50 Hustler Bravo to Arneson

5 Attachment(s)
I just wanted to share my winter project going from HP 500 with Bravos to 604CI and ASD-8's.
First I must thanks the guys at Hustler Joe and Paul were a pleasure to work with and did an awesome job. I wanted my boat converted by Hustler. They had to cut out the transom and bottom notch to do this right. Then they started with an all new transom this giving me maximum strength and not just filling the holes. Great job the boat looks like it came from the factory with Arnesons.
I also need to thank Rik at Arneson his expert advice got me through the rebuilding of the old ASD-8's. I started buying these parts and found enough to put 3 ASD-8's together. The photos below show what I started with and where I’m going.
I just finished putting the ASD-8's together and my trim and steering cylinders just came back from being chromed so they will go together now. I will start installing the drives this weekend. I will keep updating as we go along.

Just a silly question. I see in your first photo with the Bravo's there is a notch and a drain plug. With the Arneson installed they filled the notch and dont see a drain any more? Just using the bilge pump to get water out?

SS930 02-01-2011 10:55 AM

Excellent, looking forward to hearing about the results! Looking good so far!

I have not drilled the drain plug Yet. I'm just not sure where I want to put it. Thanks

The Trans is a ZF85A you can run them standard or CR.
They also give you a drop of 6".

Will they handle the 604 ci you're looking to place behind them? (Asking, I dont know much about them)

L@@kin good Ken , howz the motors coming along ??? may as well order the 1671 Blowers now :lolhit:

ken sampson 02-09-2011 06:37 AM

I just drilled and dry fit my trim tabs. The last thing to mount is the steering cylinders. Then all the new reinforcement plates on the inside of the boat need to get painted. Next I will seal and mount everything back up and wait for the motors. They should be complete in a couple of weeks as we are waiting on the CNC Brodix heads. I am going to set all the motor mounts with dummy blocks to keep things moving.
I believe I will see speeds in the triple digits.
Thanks

Pokher Ace 02-09-2011 09:46 AM

How much length is required for transmissions over the bravos? And are you putting a crash box on the center motor?
Great job btw

Ateco 02-09-2011 10:07 AM
