Scared to ask but yes the motor did come from Oklahoma. The guy had two one that was fresh and mine that had around 200hrs.

Well I have put 8-10hrs on mine and seems fine. I think mine is down on some power we are going to do a cylinder leak down test this winter and see whats going on. Otherwise I am real happy I paid 5,000 for it with a air cleaner, carb, intake and oilpan. It is exactly what he said they were the numbers are stamped on the block from innovation marine in FL. They told me $11-15,000.00 just to freshen up. So i felt good with what I got.

What kind of paint did you use for the intake, valve covers and therm housing?

86Capri 10-03-2012 08:33 AM

We bead blasted the intake, thermostat housing, valve covers, and exhaust manifolds. Then used SEM 39683 self etch primer. Then I sprayed three coats of dupont 819j base coat. Then used Spray max 2k clear in an aerosol can.
Was nice because I did all of it will aerosol cans. Plus my intake and everything cleans up like the outside of your car nice and easy. And that clear is actually a urethane clear like on your car. It is a two part.

Oh ya and the block same way with red can.

Also none of this is heat paint. It held up all year and it will years to come. Normal automotive paint can handle 400 degrees. If your engine runs that hot you don't need to worry about the paint.:evilb:

The SEM 39683 self etch primer, and dupont 819j base coat is sold in an aerosol can? If so, where can I purchase them and where can I see the colors for the dupont paint that is sold in an aerosol can. I like the color you used on the intake, etc. I want to paint my aluminum intake and I think that color would work out great. I might want to paint my valve covers too, but with a different color.

Most automotive paint supply stores can now mix and put any paint you want in an aerosol can. There is a dupont automotive store by me that does it and that's how I painted my new engine.

Trailer Disc Barke Conversion.....

Just completed the swap from drums to discs on the trailer for my 24' Sonic and it couldn't have been any easier.
Bought 9.6" stainless rotors w/aluminum caliper kits from Tie Down Engineering. A direct bolt up and very well designed.
One rep told me I may be too small on the rotor size for the weight I'm pulling but so far so good.
If I have issues it would be cake to mount them to the rear axles as well which I've always wanted anyhow.

Do all four...I have them on mine and the only thing better would be electric over hydraulic. When I decide to stop...I STOP!!.
