I'm sorry. I thought you were asking a legit question about quick fuel carbs. When in fact your carrying out your issue with Mike now in the tech section, and obviously calling me a liar while your at it.
Mike may not have the best grammar, and may not have been blessed with working in a office environment before he retired. He was too busy as a EMT and a fireman in between racing boats and building blown alcohol engines on the side.
Call him a dumbass, stupid, whatever you like. I know he is honest as the day is long when it comes to money, and doing the right thing. He must not be as dumb as you think, considering he's rocking a 120+mph 38 Vee bottom, and a 130mph cat.
So who built the power in your 87 Baja? Hows that thing run?

Did his boat run longer than 5min before burning holes in the pistons.. Just something I read, I don't think I would want him to build my sh!t if there not gonna make it past 5 min. IDK just sayin!!!!
My boat has 502/500's and runs great 80mph and that's all I want it run, because I enjoy getting in it every weekend and running it!!!!

Funny how guys don't know the real story, don't build their own engines, but are quick to judge the next guy. If anyone knows anything about engines, $hit breaks. And at the 1200HP level, even more. Theres many things as a do-it-yourselfer you have against you. Guys like Teague, chief, dean gellner, etc, been doing this for years and know what works and what doesnt. For guys like me, and Mike Tkach, its a learning experience. Sometimes you learn the hard way.
I find it kind of $hitty that hundreds of guys who do their own stuff, posted how their engines broke, or asking advice. Mike was always on oso offering advice to try to help a fellow guy out. Then word gets out he burnt a piston, and shame on him, he's a dumbass, idiot, etc. I wonder if any of the big name builders out there ever burnt a piston in their day?? My guess is yes, and that's what makes them so good at what they do now. Mike doesn't make a living building engines, doesn't own a machine shop. His extent of engine building is strictly a hobby, and helping local friends out.

Yep. It did burn a couple pistons. I was on the boat when it happened. It was not a build mistake. It was a fuel supply issue. Once that supply issue was corrected, the engines themselves ran great all summer, and he pounded on them. Trust me, theres no junk parts in his engines.

Quick question.. If the engines were dyno'd why wer'nt they tuned to avoid burning holes in the pistons!! I'm no engine builder by any means but if I spend that kinda money on blower motors they better be tuned to last longer than 5 min. Would it have been as simple as reading the plugs maybe, or possibly seeing what the AFR's were.. IDK

Dude, the problem wasn't the tune. As I said, the problem was the fuel supply in the BOAT. Had the fuel psi gauges been accurate, he would have seen the drop in psi, and backed out. But honestly, we were having fun out on the lake, and at 110+ on the big lake we were watching the water.
If you motor heads take a boat out and beat the piss out of it with fresh power and don't monitor gauges you deserve to have a melt down!!!! Just sayin.. IDK
I thought you said he beat on them all summer? Sounds like he is just now getting them put back together!! Sounds to me that the melt down could have possibly been avoided by simply monitoring some gauges!!!

Which one of you guys built the motor for your buddy, that ultimately had to be sent to Bob Madera to be done over?

I can see you're trying to stir the pot with false information. Before attempting to somehow attack me personally on oso, for something I have nothing to do with, why don't you pony up for a paid membership big guy. Then you can post pictures up of your engines and show us all how its done.
