A little background. 28' fishing boat, 8500 lb fully loaded. 454gen v stock 10 hrs on rebuild by a local machine shop.
Issue- the upper end sounds rattle ish. In trying to find out whats going on I checked out the valve trai in operation, one of the pushrods was spitting oil like a severed artery. All the rest seemed normal. Any ideas.

Sounds like the lifter might be collapsed and is passing to much oil up the pushrod. The extra clearance at the valve tip could cause the clatter.
