Bilge coating?
Bilge coating?
I have a '99 Outlaw. Can anyone tell me what coating the factory used in the bilge? I'm re-doing mine and would like to use the same stuff, unless there is something better someone can tell me about. Mine is in good shape, just stained and a couple of spots where the coating is starting to lift. Thanks in Advance. |
I'd think it's gelcoat

I have recoated my bilge with epoxy. If I had it to do over I would use gel coat with additive to make it wet out/shine. There are other threads on this if you do a search. It is a huge amount of work.

Rustoleum is the best bang for the buck...works great, nice shine, holds up very well...

Is it a huge amount of work because you have to remove everything or because you would have to have the bilge smooth before putting the gel coat on?

The gelcoat is a major pain in the a$$. Nasty smelling and a VERY short working time (5 to 7 minutes and it's solid in the gun)
Paint the bilge. |
I did my bilge with Rustoleum gloss white and added enamel hardener. Turned out amazing. Oil wipes right off. Hard and durable. Easy cleaning.

I also vote for Rustoleum oil base paint. After hours of searching I decided to try it. Turned out great and held up well.

I went with rustolium gloss white/gloss smoke gray
always have used rustilium. |
