O2 sensors in crusader manifolds

throw an LS2 cam in that 5.3l and it will be 350hp

I would be stoked with a 60mph boat. I was thinking 50 I would be happy. Only thing I worry about is I only have an alpha drive and have heard those don't like over 300hp.

dereknkathy 01-06-2015 07:52 PM

well you need another alpha at least. that one is a 2.00 to 1 4 banger drive. and the steeper the gear ratio, the easier it is to snap the vert shaft with throttle. but a well built 1.5 alpha and a driver who doesn't need to do dragster hole shots or catch air at full throttle holds up ok. if you try hard enough you can break anything...

The last foiling trip I took last year was in s tri toon with a Yamaha 250hp outboard with 5 passengers it was full throttle pulling me 25 mph I believe with fresh toon fluff ,big bimini folded down light load planets aligned ect 42mph . You cram a 300 horse mill in the center pod of a tri toon make sure its a well built one welded together by a guy who had his game on

It may not be remotely possible and I'm sure someones already tried it ,but ..if you can make
Headers , why not adapter plates if you have the width .they make em for the bbf guys to enjoy the plethora of BBC manifold header options

cmi makes headers for the ls engine platform,,i think around 2k will get you a set..

I have the alpha drive off the 350 boat I bought then sold most everything. I kept the drive and hardware, because I knew at some point I would be putting a bigger motor in the toon. So I have the 1.5.

I dont have the width for a BBC or do I want the weight of one. I'm just barley fitting this in there width wise. Had I know what I know now I would have made it wider along with many other changes but such is life. I think if I tell the wife I building another boat I might be looking for a new wife and place to live.

I will(i think) be prefectly happy with 300hp in a toon. It really spends most of its time at 1500rpm just crusing the lake but it nice when I want to run upto Zorbas it wont take me 20 mins at WOT.

see what he said in the end..he would go carb and msd spark box.it is a nice set up that way.

turbom700 01-07-2015 10:12 AM

I also read that but he didnt say why.

I'm guessing it just easier that way then dealing with all the EFI. I will be keeping the EFI as I like a challenge I also think it will be cheaper in the long run with EFI, Intake, Carb and MSD box arent cheap. Then again not everyone is a cheap as me lol
