I did at one time have a 250 on them. And 177s. Never dynoed with them though. Only with the 420s when I rebuilt them and added the 420s at same time

More of the goods have arrived. My questions:
1. How high on the dipstick do I fill with gear lube? 2. On the back plate there is one drain/fill hole about in the middle? Do i fill until that hole? 3. What is supposed to go in the threaded hole on back of intake? Looks like a compression fitting is in there now but for what? Did the oil coming out of the rear of the blower case smell like raw gas? |
Boost gauge - got it thanks.
Yep, notch in dipstick. Seems pretty low but it that's where it is then thta's it they were shipped empty, previous owner drained all fluids and cleaned them. He said these should be bolt on and go as that's how they came off his rig. He's moving up to blower shop 250's. |
When I unscrewed the center plug in rear housing on both my 177's it sprayed gas on me @ 225 hours, so diluted.
Put oil back in( Redline Heavy Gear) Ran it another 15 hours.Going to pull blowers in a month to be overhauled, the snout on one liked to sling a slight amount of oil also. I don't know how used yours are but that's what mine are like in a 17 year old setup.Seems you need to change oil very often. |
Changing the rear seals and bearings is pretty straightforward on these
|
Snout is the one I just don't feel like messing with. And I have a press, lazy. Going to deliver to DMPE on way home from up north in storage barn to make it a bolt on.
