on the other hand, the trim rams stay up a couple of days. you ever drive a boat that far that you hafta worry about retrimming every couple of days? and it is also a fail-safe so you don't forget and leave drive up all winter...

The only issues with that is if it drops under it's own weight I'm sure it will move when there is power put to it. Also would never trust it to hold on the way to the gas station or the boat ramp. Last this boat is for sale and would not make a good first impression with the drive in the dirt. Got to be fixed.

It will drop much faster while trimmed up and running the boat. I would have to bump the trim back up every 30 secs or so when this happened on a boat I used to own.
We just replaced the entire pump assembly since my buddy had a like new one.

Not much in the pump.....An assembly that holds 2 meshing gears.....and I cant see it leaking through that. Could be the 2 bearings. I was just looking at the assembly....$300!!!!! are you kidding me? 2 gears and 2 ball bearings? Damn. Just curious....no leaks at all either around the pump or the hoses?

Nope. Like I said before this is not the first pump that has done this and I've seen more pumps go bad this way then any other way (I don't count solenoids as part of the pump).
