Default Crane #132561

I already bought this cam and i just need lifters and pushrods to finish this motor off, or should i pay up to a Marine Kinetics roller setup?

If I go with the flat tappet #132561 what lifter manufacturer can be trusted, Ive heard to many horror stories surrounding the lifters.

Any advice welcome. I know this is a well covered topic, but hearing something other than "call bob madera" would be constructive lol. Not to say that is not the best answer.

good lifters w/ the edm hole in the bottom.use a good oil w/ zinc in it,,keep the seat pressure at or just below 130lbs and 400lbs max over the nose.you'll have to measure the push rod length to get it right and this kinda goes for most cam and lifter installs.

now for a nice upgrade,,I'd source an hp500 efi cam.I might know where one is.that would be the roller lifter route I'd take.

I would really like to give this cam a shot, im already around 450-500 into the setup with the valve springs, cam, and timing chain setup VS 1500 a new roller setup would cost me.

Im gunna talk to a couple of engine builders about it... i hate doing that though when im not buying anything from them.

Ya know, Merc racing used flat tappet cams for years with great luck. If your not looking to light the world on fire, and you have money into what you got .... run with it, I don't think you will be disappointed..

thats kind of what I am thinking... my only fear is wiping out a lobe. What if i plug my oil bypass and run a hi flow filter that way if i wipe a lobe the motor may live?

Plenty of motor builders do that also. I think you are over thinking this.... Don't worry so much about the cam... You can't live in a plastic bubble.

besides, it is a crane cam. most of the wiped lobes were cams that weren't hardened correctly. i think crane's quality control is pretty good...

From what I have seen through researching is its mostly the lifters that are the problem today, and its really important you find out exactly where your lifters were made. I might try to buy my lifters directly from mercruiser if i do this.
