I recall your running Daytona cd1 ign boxes and msd distributors but just curious what your timing is at when fully advanced. The other thing I was wondering about when running Daytona boxes are the weights removed or just locked. I need to get a little more educated on on those.

also bompa what are your running for ignition.

I am running the Daytona ignitions. My timing, is proportionate to RPM, and Manifold pressure. It varies a bunch depending on those things. Maximum advance on the map I last used, at full boost/wot, was 33* from 5000-5500, 34 from 5500-6000, and 35 from 6000-6500. You do not want any mechanical advance in the distributor itself when using the box to control timing.

Did you create your own map based on your manifold pressure, boost, rpm's etc or was there a specific preset option that was close to or spot on to your needs. I'm looking forward to getting my Daytonas and will likely have some questions but have heard nothing but good about them. Reminds me a lot like the power commander ign box I used on my efi fx800 sled. Very user friendly once I got use to it and fun to mess with different curves etc based on temps, snow conditions an so on.

I wonder why the daytona distributors even bother with the weights and springs knowing it's primary use would likely be with their ign box. Do you lock out? Remove or what? Or am I missing something. I thought I recently came across a msd or some other distributor that was designed specifically for one of the msd boxes and Daytona. Basically gutless in a sense except for magnetic pickup.

I created my own timing maps. You want the advance mechanism in any of the distributors, to be LOCKED. Msd pro billet, Daytona distributor, a crank trigger, or a merc hall effect distributor works with the Daytona box.
