509 build intake selection
Has anyone used a Holley fabricated sheet metal sniper intake?
was curious how it compares the go to single plane victor jr style |
How much HP are you shooting for?
I ran the dart intake on mine. |
And don't rule out the RPM airgap. If you're 600hp or under it has proven to haves gobs more torque in the midrange with very little loss on top. I can't answer about the Holley intake though.

I am hopping for 600 want to keep the rpm’s below 5800 What I have so far eq heads, cmi’s e tops, 1050 dominator 9 to 1 static i really like the looks of the fab aluminum |
The Sniper intake does look cool. The dual model with twin sniper injectors would be bad ass. I haven’t seen any reviews yet.https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...f870796b1.jpeg |
So i started comparing it the a team g and it appears to have a lower operating range than a team g or vic jr
I really think would perform I just wish someone had some real world experience I called Holley and that was not helpful at all |
It does look cool so I checked it out myself. It seems to be unstable with any sort of heat and the bilge is quite toasty. They seem to be for you weekend hot rodders. I’ll steer clear of it myself. |
This may be interest to you. You can skip on down to where they played with the Team G manifold. Get More Power from a Chevrolet Performance ZZ502 Crate Engine |
I second the RPM Airgap but not sure if it would start choking out at the 600hp mark. Would be great in torque averages throughout the curve for sure.
|
What is so confusing to me is all the high horse power Merc engines use Vic jr style or open plenum tunnel ram style intakes but when you look at the operating ranges on paper they would not work |
