Little more info on the engine. If you wanna make power without a hassle no reason not to. If it's time for a rebuild nows the time to decide so you don't do what I did changing directions mid stream.

I would also rephrase the thinking to is the boat worth supercharging? You’ll most likely have to reinvent the fuel system, oil system, coupler, outdrive, etc.

What size blower you looking at and also what's current compression? You have the merctrans or bw c72? An inner cooled 177 you'd probably be fine if that's what your thinking.

1. What 454 ?? the 330 or the mag?
2. a 22 Donzi?? unless you have a blower laying around.... about 525 na hp and a bravo with a decent x dimension will get you moving pretty good.

motor is 1979 original to boat has approx. 350 hrs before top half redo

Don't take a chance on blowing up the original engine, I would start fresh and build a 454 mag or 502 gen 6 both should have forged internals and wont break the bank .....jmo, their only original once.
