I just installed my drive and got it to the same point.i always greased up splines and end of my standard transmissions before trying to get them through clutch disk and pilot bearings on past cars.i did the same with my outdrive and from what I was told ,the new o rings go in easier with oil then grease. Well then I had a ***** of a time pulling it back off to clean off the grease and then oil. The next time I’ll be reusing the o rings and oiling them, for all I know they were wrong ones anyway. I’ll admit it kicked my a$$

If you can't get the drive on or off with LITTLE effort the engine is not aligned properly.
The tool needs to slide in and out with two fingers.
You should never have to force the drive on.
it should just slide right on once it gets to the point where the helmet bolts start entering the drive upper.

Just went through this. Verify The Water hose fitting for the drive cooler is not hitting the gimbal housing. My SC slid right on an older Bravo setup but not on my 2000 fountain. Had to notch out the gimbal then the drive slid right on. Drove me nuts cause you really cant see where it hits.

I have verified that this is happening!
I will notch it out with my dremel and post up the results later today.
Very much appreciate you chiming in with this info!

Yes!
The drive is on!
I had to use my angle grinder to cut an upside down v notch in the bottom of the gimbal mounting surface and then smoothed it out with a dremel.
The drive slid right on smooth as butter and is installed.
Thanks for the help guys I couldn't have done it without offshoreonly.

This was last weekend at Pitt Race. We'll be at VIR this weekend; but not near as many cars in our class. This crowd of Camaro Mustang Challenge was 21; biggest field since 2004 or so. We had a RIOT.
