I have 700hp per side.
There is a boat at my marina running 950hp per side on a 36 Spectre and have no problems for 3 seasons now. That is what convinced me to give these a try!
I am changing the oil in them after this weekend and will take a look at things then but so far I am very happy with them

Are you running the SCX lowers as well or the SC?

I have 1000 on SCX uppers and lowers. Want to go with more prop, but a bit nervious. Any idea what these will take on a heavy boat? (38zr)

I have the SC lowers but would def. recommend SCX lowers for 1000hp. You will be on the edge of the SCX package with 1000hp. You may want to look into either Arnesons or a pair of #6's. Blow up a pair of SCX's and the cost becomes the same.
