Bryan to my knowledge no the biggest HP I have seen was the engine I did for my boat origionally built from a 500HP I had the engine built to 640HP and then put a Vor-Tech Supercharger on her we devolped about 800hp the boat could not handle the speed and I pullled the Vor-Tech off, the 26 ZX runs good till about 85mph after that its all hands down dangerous. I am running about 82mph now and the boat just runs fantastic.. I did have her to 91mph before I backed off and checked my shorts. the boat is to top heavy and she ran out of room real fast.

I dont think a 26ZX can be made fast cheaply, they are a great riding and handling boat, but speed is hard to come by, only a few have tried, the boat is so great from the factory for what it is built for why change it. Its not a race boat, good luck, here is my motor.

on a side note ........stock is relative....................just depends on what is considered stock

I am pretty sure that nothing can be made to go fast for cheap. At least not long.
I have heard rumors of the 26ZX running into the 90's without getting too bad. I have heard of a test boat that did not like exceeding 100 with 1,200hp. I could see where that gets kindo of dicey. I could not imagine going there. It appears that some have had some interesting experiences.
I know that it is not exactly the same hull but it is close to the 27ZX on the running surface. Brian, did you note anything getting odd as you crossed 85

It can be done, but after a while it does get pricey.. Eventually you will need bigger tabs. I assume you have full steering already.. These 26zx's fly pretty solidly..
I am at a conservative 625hp & in the process of resetting drive height & re-propping. I also have an 06 which has a notched transom. I am not sure exactly where I will end up, however once the prop locks up better I think I will be at least in the mid 80s.
Brian, how much faster are you looking to go?? You also need to be careful with X dimension on these bottoms.. They are pretty sensitive..

Only exceeded it by 9 tenths and was not there for long.....was running out of Lake in a hurry....you will find out soon enough that in a ventilated step boat coming out of the throttle the boat does not slow near as much as a conventional bottom boat....you run out of room in a hurry......but no , I did not notice any strange handling characteristics at anything over 80......now between 76-80 that is a different story. All I can say is get some real tabs on that boat and do it soon.

It is me doing it Jamie. I am doing it some big power and not playing with the x-dim. I have a 1999 hull with no notch. Building up a 555. Want to blow smartly through 90. I probably won't go there much but do want to be able to get to the mid 80's quickly. I would like to be able to swing a pretty big prop.
Yes, definitely twin ram full hydraulic steering. It looks like I will need some big tabs as well to keep it settled down.
