Default prop selection 38zr

we finally got the zr out this past weekend, it has sportmasters with herrings and stock 525's. is there a better prop out there that will give me a little more speed. the best we saw on glass was 82-84 when it got rough we saw 87 solid, it has no problem getting to the limiter so i was wondering if anyone has found a better prop selection.

Sounds like I have the same set-up....staggered 525s, sportmasters and herings...the props are 5 blade 15 1/2 dia and 32 pitch...with 2 adults half fuel it runs 90 and has seen 92...with 4 adults full fuel 87...I am going to try some 6 blade herings and see what happens

From what I have seen Bull, you pretty much have the ideal set up right now. I don't think you will see any more with the six blades.
I am running Herring 5 blade 34s on my comp w/ 625hp and top out at 100.

Tom I have a friend that has some 6 blades same dia and pitch that he was going to let me try....I talked to Doug Valentine and he said that he had seen some better efficiency with the 6 blades...I figured I would try them and find out....would need to be a decent improvement to justify because I think they are harder on the drives

Be careful with 6 blades on the XR set up with the X dimension being so high on the ZRs for speed you could start tearing apart drives, The 38ZRs with 5 blade herrings work the best 30 pitch. Most of the 38ZRs run top 88mph some hit 90 but thats real lite on fuel and load, you will also find out when the water is calm the boat will loose 5mph the ZRs love chop. they are a great running rough water boat.
