Man been watching this thread for a long time, called factory a few weeks ago for some info they said they were only operating 4 days a week, if they are so backed up why are they not working all week.
Time to get out, there are lots of nice used ones out there, And its June already, summer will be over before you know it.:bsflag: |
Here is a great platform to start with....add another 30,000 for power upgrades etc... and be way ahead of the game.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2008-...spagenameZWDVW Bet it could be bought for 70,000 |
I have started to explore other options at this point. The deal with Donzi appears to be dead. Hopefully, I will be able to work something out by the end of the month or I will just keep the boat I have and maybe try again next year.
|
Has Donzi ever been able to give you a straight answer on the hold up? How about your dealer, what do they have to say? In these tough times I am sure the sales guy sure could have used a $100+ sale. I feel bad for everyone involved. I hope Donzi can get back on track.

Could never really get the truth. Which I don't blame them. I heard some interesting things today that I don't want to repeat. Donzi did make me an offer on a 35zr, but the deal wasn't that good to jump at it.
Anyhow, my dealer is working a deal on an 08 35zr. So in the long run I may end up with a nicer boat. |

WOW, this is crazy. Let us know how it works out. On the bright side you haven't missed much boating with the crappy weather we have been having. That 35 is quite a big step from the 27! Very nice boat!!!!!!!

The 35's are awesome.
Also, I think they are doing some rediculous deals on the Active Thunder 33's right now, and those are truly custom. You could do whatever you wanted. Just a thought.:drink: |
35 is far more boat... be patient the deal will find you...
i do know of a deal on a 27 if you want one.. |

I'm astonished at the whole thing in restrospect- but hey I guess it is, what it is. I wonder what the resellers story is, and what their relationship and dialog with donzi was. There are 3 sides to every story. Many Boat builders are often faced with the dilemma of profit vs promise with limited manpower and resources. Donzi could be fulfilling prior obligations, or "Squirting" other boats past yours because of profit margin- after all you bought from a reseller. Seems like an opportunity for the leadership at Donzi or the reseller to maybe tell their side? Not a lot of clients left right now and they just theoretically could win you back. If the folks at Donzi connected at all, they are reading the thread because they have the same few resources and sites and magazines we all do to see the scoop on them. OSO Perfboats SOS maybe the hull truth Thats it. Thats where you get to read about passion good and bad about your stuff. Im sure its all for the best. - but as a professional salesperson and manufacturers rep, I know how the communication should flow, and you deserved better. Uncle Dave |

According to my sources, Donzi has a bunch of boats on order. And from my understanding, they are ready to start building boats again. As soon as the word comes down from the top. As far as my deal goes, they will honor it for as long as it takes to start building boat again. Although no one at Donzi can even give an estimate of when it will be put into production. So in the mean time, I am exploring every option that I find.
The 35 zr that I am considering is a used 08 with only 40 hours. The boat has ho power and most options. I have some time to think about it and decide my next move. Despite all that has gone on with Donzi. I would still love to get the boat I ordered. Although if Donzi can not provide a product, I will have to look elsewhere. |
Anyone been by the Donzi factory lately? Is it a ghost town?
|
My buddy has pulled a customer boat and a boat they sold out of there over the last 3 weeks and said there were a few people in the office and 2 guys in the factory working. He told me there were quite a few finished boats sitting there since last fall still. He said he has not seen any factory people in there since the begining of February when he pulled one for them.

Did you officially cancel the 27 order(not that they are going to build it anyways)?
|
The order is still pending, although I am trying to make a deal on a 35.

Do yourself a favor and put the order on hold until you have test ridden in both boats. My guess is after riding in a 35 you would quickly lose interest in the 27. |
Update: I signed a deal on a 2008 35ZR. I would like to give a special thanks to all at Shipyard Marine in Wisconsin for everything they have done to help me through the process over the last months. The guys at Shipyard were able to step up to the plate and make something happen when the 27 just seemed to be dead in the water. After everything I have gone through, I feel I wound up with much better deal in the long run with the 35 ZR.:D
|
Nice! Way to go Shipyard Marine! Please post pics of the new ride!
|
Congrats Andy,
Can't wait to see the pics! Mark |

Andy: GREAT choice you will love the 35 ZR much better then the 27ZR, better in rough water and you won't look to up-grade 2 years from now. Best Of luck with her
|

Let's see some pics! I know its been over a year since this thread started but....haha
|
Just read this whole thread. Andy you have incredible patience.
How is the new ride? |
The 35 is awesome. I think if I would have went with the 27. In a few years I would have wanted the 35 anyhow.
|
Bringing this thread back from the dead, been researching about the 27ZR a lot and was wondering how many were produced since it was released in 2006? I`m guessing not too many after 2010.
