Amazing job!!! I just got a 2005 38ZR that needs TLC. I'll have to do the same in the cabin floor since mine is loose. Would you mind sharing who did the snap in flooring? Thank you!

I had a local guy do mine, Xact Customs. He did a great job, great to deal with. Marine mat cut one small piece slightly wrong and he was on them to replace it. $600 a sheet for two colors. Three colors I think was another $100 a sheet, then $50 to cut the Donzi logo out. Everything I did was able to be done out of three sheets.

Pretty dumb they used little finish nails to secure the middle of the cabin balsa floor. Sooner or later they’ll rust through. I used one solid sheet of marine ply and several tubes of epoxy. https://masepoxies.com/product/gluzilla-fast

That’s what it’s all about. Great hulls, getting up there in age, but still have a lot of life in them. Main reason of this thread was to show other ZR owners what can be done.

I love seeing these rebuild photos. Gives everyone an idea how things are constructed when planning out projects. Keep putting up photos…great to see.

No the ignition and start switches are still the military toggle switches they put in all the ZRs. Those red lights in that picture are only lights for the intercooler valves. Donzi used key switches under the rear seat, then military toggles for engine ignition and start. Like Neva Satisfied said the keys were kind of a pain under the seat, and got the idea to move them when looking at one of the new ZRCs.

I like that key relocation idea so much I'll probably do the same to mine

Couple more pics before the long nap. Not my GTR, but after a ride in that thing I want one!

Did you remove the rear bench yourself? I'm wondering if to be able to remove the bench-backrest you need to do it from the engine compartment or if it is all done from the cockpit. I hope you can help me based in your experience. Thank you.

It’s all done from the cockpit. There’s screws in the seams. Probably 6-8 of them in the whole rear seat backrest. Some are difficult to find if they’ve pulled through the vinyl but you can usually feel them with a screwdriver.

That's the best boat and trailer match I've seen yet !!~.....Gorgeous!

Wildman_grafix 02-08-2023 06:49 AM

I have been looking at the boat and just noticed, that is a nice trailer. Where are they made?

IGetWet 02-08-2023 08:33 AM

Thanks guys. They’re out of Mississippi I believe. It is one hell of a trailer. Tows very smooth and therefor fast if I don’t watch our speed.

Beautiful boat!

What color LED's did you use for you trailer uplighting? Can't really tell if it's blue or white. Any problems with the local PD?

They’re blue. I’ve never towed with them on, I feel the heat from local PD for enough other stuff. Just for retrieving at dusk/dark or show while she’s parked. There’s just a small push button switch on the trailer to turn them on/off and they run off the trailer battery.
