Zxr???
I have heard rumors of a hybrid boat so to speak that is in the works. I have been told that it will be ZR hull with amentities of a shrunk down ZX. I have also heard that there will be a 38 and a 42. I don't know if any of this is true or not, so I figured I would come on and ask if any one else has heard any of the above.
Also curious as to what the graphics are on the 38ZX on www.donzimarine.com cover page. |
Re: Zxr???
That sounds interesting. The Zr was on my list when the cig sells but this would be interesting.
|
Re: Zxr???
Yes they are building a 35 ZR flat deck. I do not know when it will be out but should be soon.
|
Re: Zxr???
Like I said, the only things I have heard is a 42 and a 38. I guess it will be a slightly taller ZR with a cabin. I would think with the efficiency of the ZR that would be one hell of a performer.
Has anyone heard any details of the new ZR with Merc. 1075's??? I am dying to know what numbers that boat is going to post with that power. Hey Mjpcowboy Are you still frequenting LOTO? I think I saw you the last time I was there (4th of July) If so, that is a beautiful boat. Corey (formerly Lonestar38zx) |
Re: Zxr???
Hi Corey,
I have a house on the 10mm so I am at LOTO quite a bit. Look me up sometime 515-208-2828. Talk to you soon. Rick |
Re: Zxr???
Come to the Cambridge, MD Poker Run in September and you can see and touch.... ooops, was that too much info? :D I also think 'bsag' has some info he can share.

Re: Zxr???
So...lets hear some news
|
Re: Zxr???
The 35' ZXR hull #1 is being built right now. There are plans for a 38 and a 42.
It is supposed to be the ZR hull married with the ZX cabin. Enclosed head, U shaped lounge, small galley, and v-berth. Stand up bolsters, and the helm sorta looks like a Black Thunder. The boat (to me) looks like a ZX that was squashed down to lower the profile. |

Re: Zxr???
I have seen artist's renditions. I will likely see photos of hull #1 & 2 very soon.
I think someone I know is buying hull #2. Hull #1 is going to Offshore Performance. Sept 22 is approx. delivery date. |

Re: Zxr???
I think it will be a hot item. I think there are some rumors of smaller Zxr's also.
|
Re: Zxr???
35, 38 and 42 ZXR's is all I've heard.
|
Re: Zxr???
The 42 will be the boat that really interests me. I have been very impressed with the ZR, so I think adding a few wife comforts....cabin and a pisser will make that a very popular boat.

Re: Zxr???
any new news?
|
Re: Zxr???
We will post pictures as soon as we can on the new ZXR. The first one will be a 35 with a 38 and 45 soon after. We will have the first one on display at the Annapolis Powerboat show if everything goes as planned. If would like more info you can call or e-mail me.

Re: Zxr???
Thanks John.
I don't understand why Donzi isn't marketing the fool out of these. I personally feel like they may be a perfect mix for Donzi fans. I know I am definitely interested. Does anyone know where there are some artist renderings yet??? Keep us posted sounds good. Also what happened with the ZR that was supposed to be outfitted with Merc. 1075's?? Was this just rumor or did it actually happen. thanks Corey |
Re: Zxr???
We're getting really close but nothing to show yet. The new model will be ZR's not ZXR's. The 38 ZR with 1075's and VI's has been built and is being fined tuned as I am writing this. Initial speeds seem to be in the mid 120's. Believe we are as anxious to show it as you are to see it. Having put seat time in our 38 ZR and knowing how it feels cruising at about 100mph these new boats will impress everyone. I'll do my best to keep everyone up to speed. Both here and on the water!

Re: Zxr???
Price?
|
Re: Zxr???
Supposed to start around $159K to around $180K w/ 525's.
|
Re: Zxr???
Bill R.
Your pricing is not accurate. I don't know what your source is but it's not correct. We have purchased the first 2 models (35 and 38) and some of the numbers aren't even finalized. I can tell everyone that the pricing is going to be very competitive. Check us out at the Annapolis Powerboat show. John 443 786-0279 |
Re: Zxr???
I hate to be the one who points this out, but that thing has a longer beak than a Fountain :)
|
Re: Zxr???
I think if you look close thats the water reflecting off the gel on the bow and the angle of the shot. No beak.

Re: Zxr???
I might be interested in a 38 - do you have one in the water yet? And have you run them enough to give out any performance specs? How fast is a 38 with 525's?
|
Re: Zxr???
Well when you do get pricing let us know. That 160 with 496's and 80+ speed sounded too good to be true but I would have been all over it at that price.

Re: Zxr???
My expierence has been with our 38ZR that for '05 becomes the 38ZR Competition. I have not driven the the new 38ZR as the scheduled introduction for that boat will be at the Ft.Lauderdale show. But folks the design works. The boat stays level and sure footed at all speeds. Our boat remains very stabile at 100mph and above. It will also run level at 30mph. I'm sure the new models will exhibit the same handling traits. The bottom's design and hull balance also gives the added bonus of excellent fuel efficiency. An added benefit of all these factors, in my opinion, is that it helps with Bravo drive longevity (less resistance across the water surface). I'll let you all know the facts as we learn them.

Re: Zxr???
I may go to Sarasota this weekend for the Donzi Hometown Rally. I think they will have one in the water there.
|
Re: Zxr???
Don't quote me on this but I think the current Non-cabin 38 ZR's are running in the low 90's. Add 1000 lbs of weight to build out the cabin and it could run 7 - 9 mph slower - which would also make it harder on the drives. I'm anxious to see the performance data.
|
Re: Zxr???
Our 38ZR without a cabin runs approx. 110mph.

Re: Zxr???
what power do you have in it?
|
Re: Zxr???
Cobra 750's, naturally aspirated, 600 cid., Imco boxes, XR Bravo's with Sportmaster gear cases. Idles like a dream and pulls steady and smooth up the rpm curve.

Re: Zxr???
Wow, that sounds like a really sweet boat John. If the new 38's came even close to that with similar power then that would be a great package. As for myself I recently sold my 35 Fountain and am in the market for a 38. The only question is which 38 to buy. That new Donzi certainly looks like a contender. Keep us informed.

As of last week we didn;t have the price either. I had the pleasure of riding on the 35ZR what an incredible boat on Sunday the boat ran low 80s with 496 power. Donzi hit a homerun with this boat, the 38ZR is soon to follow. The 38 and 42 will be staggerd set up.

Re: Zxr???
Frank,
If you have a chance to come to Annapolis give me a call. John 443 786-0279 |
Re: Zxr???
Ok, been 2 weeks what is the new news? 38? 42? Pricing....inquiring minds want to know
|
Re: Zxr???
Ditto!!
I am currently looking at late model Cigarette Tigers, but if Donzi is going to release a 42 before spring, I would definitely be interested. Corey |
