It does look great with the windshield frames painted black. I liked the trailer almost as much as the boat. I can't wait to see it on the water.

I agree with you bob, the trailer is sweet. I am going to hate to put this in salt water. If you know of anyone that wants a trailer like this let me know. I would like to sell the trailer and replace it with an aluminum one.

I will ask Spark this evening if he knows anyone. Brian bought Garys yellow DW and traded his DW to Gary who is going to pleasure boat it. Must be nice to have the $$$ to buy three DWs' in one year.

I know, I was happy to hear this when we were in Sarasota. Sounds like gary is cutting the top off and repainting the boat white with some other graphics.

Well this weekend was a productive one. The mids came back from the machine shop and I was able to install the engines and steering on the boat. Getting closer to its first trip out! Attached are a few pictures of the 15in Mids on the 300xs's. Looking for the first sea trial later this week.

bulletbob 07-31-2012 01:28 PM

Looks great! I'm looking forward to how she performs after you run it. Best of luck!

Have had some coil/ coil harness issues. Have them worked out now. Should be able to get a good run this weekend. These pics were taken a couple weeks ago by my house.

Updates Don. How's she run with the XS'? Did you get the air installed? Have you settled on a prop? Enquiring minds want to know. Are you going to KW this year? We hope to make it from Miami to KW all the way buy water this year. Hope to see you and the cat in KW.

Hi Bob-

Have had some issues with the motors, to be expected when buying used engines. I have had the boat over 100mph with more left in it, but one of the engines thru a rod. Motors are both apart now and getting a refresh. Hope to be on the water soon! Props are still a work in process.

My AC unit seemed to work ok, need to make some modifications to make it work better.

We will be in KW this year, along with 3 or 4 other OB cats. We will trailer down to Stock Island and run around the area for most of the week. I sure we will see ya down there!

Don

bulletbob 09-06-2012 06:21 AM

I'm sorry to hear about your engine problems. I had fuel issues which lead to redoing the system entirely, removed VOS tanks and put weldons back in hull. We are shipping down friends Skater to TNT and will do the Wednesday run from Miami to KW. We will do some running when I see you. Hang in there man! Just be thankful we don't have trips!

Hi Bob-

I am OK with this, in the long run the engines will be better than stock. Just hoping I can get the boat back up and running before the 1st FMO run.

And I dont hate myself enough to own a Triple Outboard Boat! See you in KW!

Now that is some funny chit:lolhit:

Who is doing your motors? Or are you going to tackle them yourself?

Shaun is doing the rebuild for me along with cleaning the injectors. I think a dirty injector caused the issue in the first place.

Cool,

Just got done putting mine back together, not much to these things, Shaun walked me thru it.

If it would have been a regular rebuild I would have done it myself. This one had a hole in the block behind the VST, and needed 3 new sleeves pressed into the block. That was more than I wanted to do.

mlb75 09-22-2012 01:48 PM

The boat is looking really good and I can't wait to hear what you're doing with the motors. There seem to be so few people working on them to see what kind of potential they really have. Dave Bush and Shaun seem be they only ones I've heard of.

I've got a 32 Spectre very similar to Tax Man's and was wondering if you guys tried the 4 blade cleavers on it and if so how did they do compared to the BBlades modified bravo's? I assume they were stock 32 or 34 pitch.

Also would love to know more about the 15" mids, who did them, what mod's did you have to do to exhaust etc, any notable difference in how the boat ran with them vs the stock 20" mids or is more of a visual impact? I've got idea's on what the advantages should be but would love to hear real world results.

Thanks

I hear ya, I would have farmed that out also.

If you dont want to go with 3 blade cleavers I would try the Bravos before 4 blade cleavers. JMHO

mlb75 09-25-2012 01:39 PM

FullAuto, I don't want to hijack the tread but... I've tried the three blade 32" cleavers and they worked OK but slip numbers were high, I've actually got the 4 blade bravo's by BBLades now and my slip numbers are great but I can't quite get the RPM's I'd like, that's why I was curious about the 4 blade cleavers. I also threw a blade on one of the bravo's which sucked so now I'm in the market for a second set of props, ones that might be a bit more reliable in a surface piercing configuration. I've got a few other things I'm working on to try and get some more RPM but that's for another thread.

Since my warranty is coming up next spring / summer I was just really curious what kind of mods were working with the 300XS's on the DW. I've always loved the look of the 15" or even 12" mids but wanted to know the benefits of going that route and if they were significant who did the mod. It seems that STR and DBR are the guys to talk to about finding extra power but didn't even realize anyone had done the cut down mids on the 300XS's. What about the exhaust tuner etc?

TIA

We have a few different props we will be trying on Eric's (Tax Man's) boat. Some cleavers and some full hub/ round ear props. When we get some results we will let you know.

The 15in mids were built by Calhune Marine in Sout Carolina. I am running hydrotec tuners in place of the stock tuners, this is the only mod needed to convert to 15in mids. Once I get the motors installed and broke in I will start the process of setting the boat up and get a few top speed runs in.
