Nice job! Are those carbon fiber front seats? what's the weight on those, I'm thinking in some weight savings, mine are like 36lbs.

The seats are Fiberglass Sparco Race Seats, Not sure the exact weight. When I get them back on Moday I can weight them.

If you are coming to Lanier Don I look forward to seeing my lost love in person again. If you love them set them free and hopefully they will come back to you is my motto. If I don't buy a 32 DW before you I would love to rekindle our budding romance. Some Rocket Scientist wooed her and poof she was gone! Lol

Hi Bob-

We are going to Lanier! We have 3 boats going up Wednesday: Eric with his 32 Spectre, Brad with his 30 Motion and Our 30 DW.
I picked up the seats last night and had to put them into the boat along with the flooring. I can't wait to get it all installed after I paint the Dash/ Shifter Box and Sides Blue.

The Rocket Scientist comment is funny........ That would be a fun job! For now, I guess I will have to stick to Aerospace Engineering. See you in a few weeks!

bulletbob 07-02-2014 05:41 AM

Is your old Motion still in your area? I saw it pop up on ebay and was gone at 55k in 24 hours. I would love to have that cat also. Rick put the old Vicious 30 Skater copy up for sale on S&F for 25k which I thought is a screaming deal. I thought about it, but after talking to Spark she is too heavy for my style of boating.
The updates look awesome Don. I look forward to seeing you all. Rocket Scientist and Aerospace Engineering whats the diffrence? Do your rockets have wings. LOL

Hi Bob-

When I sold my Motion it went to Fort Lauderdale and has been on and off sale for a little while. It was a great boat and some days I wish I never would have sold it. Rick's boat turned out amazing and someone is going to get a unique ride.

LOL, yes we build the engines (Rockets) that bolt to the wings.

What's your thoughts on running a " canopy " boat on poker runs , and fun runs ? Is it good ? Looking at a similar boat for running poker runs .

We ran the boat for 2 seasons with the canopy on. We cut the canopy off Jan 2014 and have been running it this way since. The boat is 100% better with the canopy off. I never really understood how loud inside the cockpit is with the canopy on at slow speeds (35 to 75). visibility is also an issue with the canopy boat. We had to run a rear mounted camera to be able to see behind us.

I would not hesitate at all to buy another canopy boat. But I would cut the top off as soon as it came home.

Hope this helps
Don

Flying Skunks 09-27-2014 08:24 AM

The top is off , a lot like yours ..never thought of a rear firing camera

Maritime_Eng 09-28-2014 09:01 AM

Flying Skunks 09-28-2014 05:34 PM

Maritime_Eng 09-28-2014 07:27 PM

She ran over 100 on GPS, I have some new props but have been unable to test over the past couple months. The hull is maybe a couple mph slower than a "normal" spectre hull but love the ride and the bottom work Sparky did really makes helps in the turns.
