Default imco extreme sc (not shorties)

38 fountain fever twin 600 merc. sc's .......took it out today ... ...... running wot about 20 seconds .......rpm's shot up on port motor .....so we shut it down .....port drive wont go in forward but it has reverse......when put in forward it is like it is in neutral ...... came home on 1 motor picked it up in the lift pulled plug out the drive ....the magnet was full of shavings of metal.........what is your opinion....obviously the drive is no good .......what does a brand new one cost????

you most likelysheared the floor out of a drive gear,a set of new gears and bearings will most likely fix it. A new one will run you 8-10 thousand,a set of gears and bearings will run you 1200-1500$ plus labor,Smitty

took the drive off today took the front casing off to take a look inside .....about a pound of metal shavings poured out and the forward gear is shaved off ....................
whats your opinion buy a new drive or just rebild this one or buy a used one???

cheaper to fix,ive broke the bottom out of forward gear twice,the imco use factory mercury gears just stronger bearings @races.try articfreinds way he seems to know how to make them live, im switching to bmaxes

just got the drive back today and put it on .....goin to put the boat in the water as soon as possible ........got the old chewed up gears back and will post pics of the destruction soon........... for new gears bearings and a couple other things i needed ....$2800
