You will be fine with the Alpha. Again just watch coming out of the water with it and no hole shots. The Alpha on my boat is a time bomb, but it has 800+ hours on it. The fluid is changed every 20-30 hours. It had spent most of its life behind a 260 hp, than a 406, 383, and now a 5.7 Vortec setup.

I have nearly 600 hours on a pair of 280hp/alphas, on a boat that weighs around 5000lbs., and have had no problems, just maintenance and a seal or two.
The guys who put turbines infront of alphas swear they'll hold up very well if they are precisely shimmed.
