If Im going from standard alphas to standard bravo 1s how much deeper is that going to put my prop shaft ? can I plug any other lowers (mercruiser or aftermarket ) into my bravo 1 uppers to raise the propshaft depth ?

You can use Imco shorty lowers. They come in -1, -2, and -3 inch. Lots of $$$ though.

Changing from alpha's to bravo's raises the X dimension...prop shaft will be higher...don't know how much...I had the alpha changed to a Bravo on my Pachanga.

The actual distance from crank center to propshaft is the exact same, 21 13/16. The (stock) Bravo put's the prop back another 3" or so which is about the same as lowering the drive 3/8"

Hmmmm If it's the same....does placing the prop back 3 inches raise the X dimension?(My boat guy told me it raised it quite a bit) LOL...See how much I know. The alpha always kept a bite...the bravo will loose it's bite from time to time at lower speeds. I don't see where raising the propshaft would help in my situation unless I was trying to mimic a surface drive! Then I would start worrying about my water pickups...course a sea strainer would be an option.

mercruiser doesnt make anything shorter that will plug in ? I realize each hull is different but is there a rough "ideal" dimension for the propshaft to bottom of hull measurement ? Im talking about your average twin I/O ,non notched, non step,V hull
