I wanted to watch the drive temp and stuck a thermocouple to the top drive cap surface once and klunged up a temperature meter. I think I have seen a drive lube temp monitors around though. You could use a transmission temp gauge and adapt the sensor.
Something like this would work:

I am interested in drive temperature as well. Recently I had an oil leak in the reserve like that attaches to the outdrive and when repairing I noticed that there where 2 wires not connected to anything coming from the drive laying in my extention box. I was thinking that these might be from drive temperature sensors? Can anyone tell me where the sensors would normally be mounted?

Yes unfortunatley the compnay that made them is no longer in business. we are working on something though and I hope to have some tested in a few weeks.
Never had too many calls for them in the past, but seems like alot of people are interested now.
