Default Imco And Seaweed

i have about 400ft of seaweeds ,,,that mossie string stuff,,,that floats near the top,,,(beforei get to clean deep water),,,having an imco lower,,,whats the fix ie. some type of screen ,,to keep seaweed from geting sucked up into the drive,,,what have you guys used to stop this,,,

We just let the sea strainers catch the weed.

NO THIS STUFF PLUGGED UP THE DRIVE,,,no water could get thru to the sea strainer,,,with sea strainer your only protected from strainer to engine,,,iam talking about strainer back to drive,,,

Had the same problem with mine the last 2 years. I am going to weld the slotted hole closes and drill and machine them simular to what merc does on their sportmaster lowers so I can reverse the drive and remove the seaweed like we did with the Bravo lowers.

yea i hear you,,,,what worked better for me was,,,after i go into reverse and get the boat moving back,,,,i shut down the engines,,,,this stops the sucking of the seapump ,,,which is help holding the seaweed onto the drive,,,seaweed falls off restart up and go

that CAN work, but just this weekend I was plugged up, not enough to stop all water flow, but enough for me to notice my water temps climbing some, and nothing I could do would dislodge the seaweed. It was all plugged up when I put it on the trailer.

You could just fill a 55 gallon drum with water and run a hose from that to your water pump. Run off that until you are clear of the seaweed....

I had the same issue at Sugar Island last 4th of july,have not been back since.
My cigarette has the merc transom mount pickup and i never had an issue .
