What top end numbers do you see in your 31 cat with that power? Just curious? |

The hull is old technology and also has a center pod. It was designed by Tom Stollars in the mid 80's, who was the original owner of Warlock. We started off with 900 hp engines, the boat ran 123 mph. Upgraded the engines to around 1400 hp on the dyno and hit a speed wall at 135 mph. These engines and drives in a new technology boat like a MTI or a Skater would be a drastic difference in speed.

Very nice looking setup!! That's still very fast in that size boat!!

John, thanks for posting. You make a great point most dont think about when upgrading, thinking if they double their power they get double the speed forgetting the other aspects that come into play when shooting for faster speeds. My buddies at Injected Engineering tuned a 32 Skater powered by two Proline built V10's making around 760 each on #6 units. The boat topped out at just under 130mph. Though I have to admit when reading your post I figured the uprade to 500+ more HP per side would net you closer to 145 or so.

I wanted to add into this thread Merc's 1100 package based off the 1350 "big brother" model...
Apparently it's around the same pricing range of a 1075 package but with the added power and control of a TT system over a blower system. From Mercury racing... The 1100 package comes standard with a NXT1 SSM sterndrive for 1.15 through 1.4 ratios (for light/fast boats). The M8 drive is optional with similar ratios for boats where the M8′s higher prop shaft location is preferred. The M8 unit is required with bigger gear reductions like a 1.53 or 1.69 ratio (for more richly appointed, but still fast boats). 1100 package http://i133.photobucket.com/albums/q...ction1350s.jpg http://i133.photobucket.com/albums/q..._Top_Front.jpg Optional M8 http://i133.photobucket.com/albums/q...M8andZeus1.jpg NXT "Speedmaster" unit http://i133.photobucket.com/albums/q...eedMaster1.jpg |
