Default Bravo trim sender.

got a problem with my trim sender. used to work ok. now it is either stuck all the way down or all the way up. mostly its stuck all the way up (the gauge needle). where can i find a fix for the factory mercruiser trim gauge sender and how do i adjust/set it. also, i was wondering if i could bypass the limit sender. i am having issues with the trailer switch to bypass the limit. i have to wiggle it just right sometimes to put the thing in trailer mode. since i also have throttle mounted trim i am not concerned with this switch. also, i cannot find a duplicate of my trailer switch (in appearance not function) and i dont really want to replace every switch to make it not stand out.

i know a mechanical indicator is best. but she is an olde baja.

that is all...

thanks guys.

The trim sender and limit are mounted on your gimbal ring and are actuated with the hinge pins. It sounds like your hinge pins have come loose which is very bad, not to mention it will screw with your gage and trailer tilt function. Remove the senders and using a large allen head socket, see if the pins underneath are loose. If they are you will need to remove them one at a time and put red loctite on them and torque to specs. I'll keep my fingers crossed that the threads are still in tact.

BTW, I saw the monkeys and walen jennins at steamboat days many moons ago. Do they still do that festival in bettendorf?

i just had the hinge pins out and the problem there before i did. i replaced all the bellows... the threads looked great! so i think i will mess with it a little. i looked inside the sender and it was not pretty.

and yes, steamboat days is still held in clinton. a little up river from bettendorf but it is a good time. also, tug fest is really cool to watch on the water.
