I run a billet water cooled top caps and XR vertical shafts on my Bravo ones and push 700 HP through them on a 382 Fastech Formula. I make top caps, if you are interested check the classifieds or my website.

Amen. I wish I would have bought them before my IMCOs. I'd be money ahead by now after fixing drives 10 times.

If you just have to do something, get some NEO drive oil from me for it.
How much is the NEO oil I would like to get some for my drive.

One free thing to do that will help is make sure your prop rotation does not put pressure on the top cap in forward gear. I believe having the prop spinning cw accomplishes this. The stock top caps are weak.

Hre is a direct quote from a man I sold some NEO to. He runs a Baja 40' Outlaw with twin 575 SCI's.

"Quick update.....wish I would have put a drive temp gauge on but......I don't know if the gear lube lowered the temp or not, I do know that I have put my drives thru hell this past month and they are still together. Ran the Biloxi PR about 130 miles at 4500-5000RPM's . Just changed the lube and it was not burnt or smelled bad....."

Ok guys I never really post on here much but I was def interested in this as I blew up my bravo 1 last summer. Does the cap really help? I am just running a stock Carb hp 500 502. I bought my first powerboat last summer and have been restoring it so any help/secrets that will make me better at maintaining my boat is appreciated.

The weakest part of a Bravo is the upper gear set. The more you can do to stabilize the upper, the better. A steel tower and stronger top cap definately will help.

Just my 2 cents, but I just blew up a Bravo 1. It gave away at the top cap on port drive! Split the cap in three places around bolt holes, and took out gears and tower! I now have installed a Teague Marine billet cap. (on new drive of course) It is twice as thick and Billet. I'm sure it will help.
