Default How to beef up a bravo 1

I have a 28 magic sceptor with a 500 efi that puts out 540hp and a bravo 1 outdrive. Is there any way to beef up this outdrive or do I just need to upgrade?

I don't think you need to do anything mechanical with it. If it hasn't broke yet & you're not seeing metal on the magnets, I'd run it.
If you just have to do something, get some NEO drive oil from me for it.

I have a Baja that compleatly destroyed bravo 1 drives. I purchased a Mr Gadgets built XR and so far so good. Or you can just ***** your boat around and hope for the best. Once you hit 600+ hp then worry.

With that horsepower you will be ok. Dont do hard holeshots, take it easy, until you get on plane and service it regularly. Over 600 and over 6k RPM is a prob. Also be careful when you come out of water and re enter. when you leave water get off throttle. I have broken a few of them but never the gears. Mainly the floor and u joints. I push 750+ thru mine. For the price of them now you can keep an extra around. Xr and such are expensive and i still had issues. My 2 cents.
Dont fix until it breaks, then see what it was.

Ive seen a couple of used arnesons lately. They're not bad on price. 3-6k. If you put a used arneson on you'll never have to worry about it again. 8)

Figure in the cost to re-rig or buy the extension box that houses the transmission. Plus the transmission cost + the steering + the trim + the cost to go through what you're buying + the rigging to get it on & working correctly + the high $$ propeller(s) you'll need.
