was told by the dealer today that when they change drive oil they allways remove tank and wash it out!

I change my gear lube twice a season and it still occurs after time.

I had the impression it was from mixing a synthetic into the resi with the merc oil. I had the same thing happen in an outboard lower unit...sludgefest
