If memory serves me, I paid right around $950 shipped to my door for a Brand New Bravo (SEI Version). I ordered directly from SEI.

Yep!
Bravo Lowers are $950. Complete Alphas are $1300. And everything comes with a 3-year warranty. The only thing missing from their line-up are Bravo uppers. http://www.sterndrive.cc/ |

I have read on other sites that they work well on smaller boats but when you get to the bigger deep V's no so good. I have 350 mags and the alphas are only rated at 300hp so they are at their limit already.. I know they have a 3yr warranty but the turn around is close to a month never mind the cost to ship. our season here is not long just not sure I want to take a chance..

I have been leaving my Velocity in the water quite a bit this season (it comes out once a week for a good scrub down) and so far the paint has held up very well. I have a small knick in the skeg and the paint in that area is holding up well. Granted I boat in fresh water..........
As far as using on a HP application. I don't baby my boat. My SEI drive now has 140hrs on it. While my 496 mag isn't a huge hp motor, the drive has held up well. I believe they will warranty up to 400 hp. (i don't remember the exact number). But if I blew one up, I would simply order a new one Immediately, then send the blown up one in for warranty and when it comes back would be a ready to use spare. ANy (good) shop around me has a 1-2 month back log this time of year. So wether it is an SEI or a Merc drive, if I blew it up I'd be looking at a month minimum anyway.... Oh yeah shipping via UPS is only $50 . THe lower unit fits in a fairly small box and doesn't weigh too much. |
