Can you do a 2" spacer? I would imagine IMCO would be a better lower than the stock Bravo.
I put the 2" shorty on ours but I also have it set up with the IMCO E-box. Still prop testing so I do not have anything to compare it to yet. Also, what about cupping your prop? |
That is interesting, now that I have a IMCO!

TW720HVY it wold appear we have taken very similar routes regarding upgrades. I would be very interested in reading about what yo have done and the results!

I just re-read your post, I thought you said " a imco should be FASTER than a stock bravo" where you actually said it should be a BETTER drive. They are not always faster but the shafts and components are definately better than a stock bravo with the exception of the gears which are the same, Smitty

-2" shorty gave my boat 2-3 mph more, made the boat run flatter in the rough and shoots a cool rooster-tail. It likes a 4 blade prop; A B-Blades 30p Bravo 1 in my case.

I raised my x dim up 3", recut the hole on the transom. Gained about 3-4 mph, flatter and faster.

I believe I had the wrong prop on it Bravo 1 26P (Merc Labbed). It was not very good out of the hole and only topped 4900RPM. The engine dyno'd at 560 @ 5400RPM. It idles like crAAp and stalls in and out of gear and I have an email to the builder about it and haven't heard back. On top of everything else I have water coming in from somewhere and I haven't had a chance to trouble shoot it yet. Hopefully tomorrow we'll get it in the water again with the original prop, flash light and mirror. |

I would be more than happy to share results but I really don't have anything yet. The boat hit the water for the first time last weekend at LOTO.

There are always things to iron out...doing some of that myself ;) Best of luck and hopefully we can read about it soon. |
I went from a standard lower with nose cone to a -2 imco shortie on my 1998 baja boss and noticed a huge difference in top end speed and handling. It made the boat very "happy" well worth the swap.
