in all drives you can use the amsoil severe gear 75-90w and mix it with the lucas additive for best results,,,,4qt amsoil to 1qt lucas

I can't find it now but somewhere there is a SAE standardized test of Amsoil Severe Gear and most of the major synthetic gear lubes and the Lucas did not fair well at all. It was on the bottom end of the scale, kind of surprising considering how many OSO'ers use it. I have it in PDF if anyone is interested, it's one of the most extensive tests I've ever seen on gear lube.

LUCAS gear lube probably isnt the best... the Lucas engine additive mixed with amsoil sever gear covers all areas of protection for your gears

I think I will give the Amsoil severe gear and lucas blend a go rather than try the Amsoil marine Gear lube

Amsoil Marine is better then a mix of Amsoil Extreme and Lucas. You don't dilute your gas, don't dilute your oil.

amsoil marine is not better than amsoil severe gear .per amsoil themselves...and your not diluting it,,, its like putting stabil in your fuel,,,,all the lucas does is increase the properties of the gear oil that are most important for keeping your gears alive....there is a reason why max machine and others repackage this formula,,,,bc it works,,,just my 2c.

The Lucas additive is ABSOLUTELY NOT needed! If AMSOIL wanted their gearlube to perform with excessive drag on the gears they would make it that way to start. The Lucas will cause a condition called fluid friction which in turn will increase the drive temps. The AMSOIL Severe Gear is ALL you need, period.

He does use the MCF motorcycle oil, has been for about 5 years now, and so is my buddy in his 2011 bravo X's.

You don't want a thicker oil you need a better oil one that flows and protects at the same time. Stop and think about where Nascar and car manufacturer's have gone with engine oil, 0w or 0-20w and it still works and better fuel mileage and more power. The oil industry has changed but they forgot to tell the consumer.

Kind of an old thread, but I found it doing research for Bravo III lubes.

When adding Lucas, or whatever, to the drive lube, how do you do it? Do you mix it in a container and pump it in or add some of the main lube, add the additive, and then top up with the main lube?

I assume it will mix together in the gearcase, but if I add the additive first it will be concentrated in the upper end or reservoir and not in the lower part where the gears are.
