Default Broken upper gears from hitting something?

I'm pretty sure I hit something while cruising. shortly there after there was a rough/violent vibration. I shut it down and got towed in. I noticed a small dent in the prop( bravo with a solid hub ). Is it possible that the gears could have broke and the prop only has a minor dent in one blade?

I Removed the drive and while rotating the drive shaft you can feel it skip a gear. This happens in forward and reverse.

Thanks.

i have trashed my share of bravo&xr drives, for me they never break when i am beating them,it always lets go when im crusing, and they do shake&vibrate like crazy just before they let go.i doubt you did the damage because you hit something, the drive is just a pizz poor design, that does not like torque.
