Default Bravo transom assembly sealant?

I had to remove the transom assembly on the port side because of a leak. The factory "rope seal" was not seated properly on the bottom, and the water eventually lifted the silicone fountain had sealed the transom with. The mercathode seal was also folded.

The manual states that no sealant is needed, just the seal. However I have quite the mess with the black sealant that fountain used from the factory so I would just like to reseal with sealant and the merc seal.

Will 3M 4200 do the job? I found sealant on both sides of the rope seal, so run a double bead on both sides? Any other tips on sealing? I don't want to do this again.

Thanks

4200 is what I would use.
