Default SEI bravo parts

Has anyone durability tested any SEI parts?? I've seen the lower gears and shafts for cheap. After getting burned on two new crappy mercruiser gear sets I thought it would be worth a shot...

I haven't used any SEI Bravo parts, but have put several of their Alpha and Outboard Units on , without a problem so far.

They use them at the marina all the time with no problem.Get a complete lower got a 3 year no fault replacement guarantee.Remember gear sets are only as good as the person shimming and installing them. That goes for any gear set installed in anything. My 2 cents

I remember seeing a hardness test somewhere for the gears and they were actually harder than the Merc gears that were tested.

The SEI Bravo gears currently average 8 points higher on the Rockwell C scale than the current OEM Mercruiser gears. The SEI gears seem to be equivalent to hardness of the better Mercruiser gears made twenty years ago.

I have not had a chance to do any testing with the SEI Bravo gears or do a composition analysis but will say the few alpha clones I've seen seem to be above par in machining compared to normal overseas products one is used to getting. The SEI Bravo gears in the future may be a viable option. Don't be afraid to talk to the tech and service dept at SEI , they are super guys to talk to and will bend over backwards to get you the answers you want.

SEI only has regular Bravo lower stuff. No upper stuff or XZ/XR stuff.

There is too much liability with uppers and the warranty.

Somebody needs to call them and get them to make bravo uppers or at least the gears!

I'd be interested in trying a set of their lower gears. You can run regular Bravo gears in an XR if you machine .070 off the prop shaft.
