I think the upper needs a redesign to accommodate much larger gears.

Has anyone tried the SEI lower gears? -My application seems to be pretty good on XR upper life (as long as I'm quick on the sticks) but lowers get used up rather quickly.

Defeat your neutral safety switches so you can start in gear.

Looks like it was an upper shaft broke. Think I will replace the upper gear set. Which ones will hold up the best. Should I use Amsoil synthetic?

That sounds like an engine tuning issue that is going to continually cause drive issues.
Unless they are huge solid rollers, you should be able to get it to idle at around a 1000rpms in neutral and 800rpms in gear.
It probably needs more timing at idle.
