BAJA!!! (24 Outlaw, Hammer)
there's one... have to remove the seat to get at front of a BBC... never in a million years would you get a transmission in it
this is a serious forum guys... lets be fair to those who don't have experience...
as for the #4,#5 story... rigging and X dimension are a huge factor in performance...

Jeff32... crashboxes are for a serious (RACING) application they are a pain in the azz when it comes to docking a boat... similar to comparing a monkey trying to phuck a football!!! as for SSM drives there isn't a more cost effective way to deliver big power to the liquid, the alternative would be Imco SCX which is huge $$$ in comparison to lets say a #3 drive even when you factor the rerig and transmission into the equation...
and again with regards to performance, prop selection and X dimension are huge factors... my 43 Scarab with 1100s and #3As planes like a ski boat with 16.75 x 32 4 blade cleavers... so go figure!! and my drives are high!! for a #3 config.. 2.5" below bottom... when I do the rerig my #5s will be on a box and 1" up from the bottom which will allow sufficient options of running a spacer for daily pleasure boating or no spacer for when poker/race running when top speed is all I care about!!

I've read most of this thread and my head hurts, with the 4's & 5's being some 5" shorter than the 3's is there difficulty getting the boat to nose over, getting up on plane when compairing a #3 to a #5 on the same boat say a 38 TG
