Why not call Bmax direct? Get the info directly. John recently took a trip out to Imco. He will give you a honest response on both. I know he also has some new things in the works. So it may be a good time to get all the info you can before spending money on either. Everyone on the web is gonna have their own opinions. I've just called Imco direct before and of course talked with John at Bmax direct. Answered the questions I had versus 2nd hand info from folks who haven't owned either one.

Answer this, in the past have you chewed up the xr lower drive gears, if so rule out the Bmax becasue it uses the same lower gears last I heard unless john has came out with something new, I chewed up quite a few sets of lower gears running big hp

SCX personal expierence and extensive research

Not a fan of the BMAX because it uses XR lower gears which will NEVER hold up.

Arneson, #6, X-Power, Wiesman also get my vote:-)

Nice set of newly used Wiesman in the swap shop classifieds right now

Are you saying they are the same price? Are you just going with uppers? It will save you money if you stick with your own lowers. I suppose you could upgrade them later as well. I have a Bmax (you called on it) but I personally think IMCO has a more stability as a product line/company that will be around for quite some time...not saying Bmax is going anywhere.

FYI: There is a 50 hour old complete SCX drive in the swap shop for a great price like less than half price. The owner is going to Arneson drives on his new boat. I would love to have it but can't justify it with the boss right now.

I would go with the SCX all day long over BMax. I have a friend who has the BMax drives on his Cigarette. Nothing but issues with lower gears.

What HP and what boat.....several listed on your signature. When I did my research, I came to the conclusion that B-Max and Konrad were a reasonable choice for up to around 700 HP (slight upgrade from an XR) and you can use your XR lowers. For higher HP and heavy boats, I'd go full SCX's with the option to go with the -4 SCX if that works for your boat. The easiest, but most expensive way to go is the X-Power Drive. This drive is straight bolt on with no modifications required and good up to something like 1,200 HP. They will cost you at least double for these though, but the concept is that you keep the drives forever.....if you sell your boat, sell it with your old XR's and move your X-Power drives to your new boat. I don't buy into that as most people go to a #6 boat after a while of owning a bravo boat....to each thier own.

I ended up with complete SCX's with a #6 prop shaft. You might want to PM drpete here on the board as he just sold his B-Max's and went to SCX's. He will have real world results with both. Good luck!
