Ok, this is driving me crazy. Mercrusier has so many coupler part numbers. I have no idea what to get. Here is what I am thinking. 8M0098797 steel no snout $832
8M0098798 just know it fits up to 600hp. snout? $562

Any help would be appreciated..........John

Snap had a good idea here if your engine is making north of 600HP.

When I looked up the 8M0098797 shows it fits 8M0098797 COUPLER ASSY - Mercury Marine | Crowley Marine. Has no snout. I know that because I have it in hand. Just want to do this right the first time. Thanks!

I called mercruiser today and David said that the 8M0098798 fits the same engine that Crowley marine shows. Is it now said that we should only use aluminum couplers in performance applications?
