Default barb fitting on transom assembly

What is the barb fitting above the shift cable on a 1988 bravo 1 transom assembly and what do i do with it? One transom assembly has a hose about 8"-10" long not connected to anything the other transom assembly has a hose broken off at the barb fitting. What to do????

Pretty sure that is for the drive lube bottle inside the boat....if you don't have bottles the just plug them off or if the guts are not in your uppers where the check valve pokes through the bell housing like where your outdrives studs are then you can leave it...its hard to explain without pics lol...basically there should be a nipple sticking out with a check valve on the end where the 6 mounting bolts are...that's what that hose connects to...if your drive has a hole there with no rubber seal and ball to push the check valve then you can just leave the line open on the inside...however if your drives are equipped to have a bottle and DO have the spring and ball in the drive then you either need to plug the line or add drive bottles...hope that makes sense lol like I said a little hard to explain without pics haha
