The SCX set up is expensive but maybe it’s worth it so that you have the reliability and option for higher engine power. Having the peace of mind when running hard makes using the boat more fun.

that's what I was figuring. It's a big nut but then I'm hoping I'm done for a long time as far as my drive goes

my old boat was the same way. I always think it's going to happen when I go to get on plane or send it out of the water but both times were when I was taking it easy. This one a little more catastrophic than that one lol

Talk with George at AADS. He quoted me about $7K for a XR/XZ hybrid and no core swap that was good for 700HP for 500 hrs without the parasitic loss of the XR gears and a 2yr warrantee. While this setup won't work for you, especially with a potential repower down the road, I'm sure he could get you there for a lot less than an SCX.

we run a natural 540 with 780 + on a 25 thunder we turn it hard up to 6800 its a standard XR with a stock 26p bravo prop we dont hammer it till above 4000 can get on plane with 10 people and have had no drive issues
