While running the engine on the hose and in neutral I noticed the upper gear cover to be a little warm is this normal?

Is the hot exhaust water from engine hitting drive when running on the hose? Heating the top of the drive?

if not, no it’s not normal. We have put drive in gear and run drives for several minutes…no heat was generated because there is no load.
