Do you guys know where I can find a bigger tower bearing to the XR, like the one at the right?
The smaller one is at the left.

And do you know if the bigger much stronger one is gonna fit in the original XR steel tower?

thanks
Johan

There’s only so much bearing surface area on the clutch shaft so I don’t know if that longer bearing will provide any benefit, if it somehow does, you would have to position it in the tower so that the upper part of the bearings installed height is at the same height as the stock bearing is placed.

The bearings you show are caged bearings, they used those on the later models, the earlier models used needle bearings, the needle bearings ( due to not having the cage in them to take up space) will have more needles in them,
so they provide more contact surface, these are what I continued to use after they made the switch to caged.

with the stock xr clutch shaft the koyo b1610 is max, the rolling surfaces of the stock shaft are so short, that there is no reason going with taller bearing. The b1610 is uncaged needle bearing, and is 0.125" taller than the stock b168.

okey thank you JaniH

Does it look like this one?

I have bought a new boat, sold the stinger.
i get two xr drives with the purchase with one imco sc and one xr shorty lower.

one xr upper has the original xr shaft and the other one should be Bravoshop aftermarket

the one with xr original shaft is the one needing the steel tower.

the xr with upgraded internal shaft needs a new shaft due to snap off at the lower part of it. Maybe it is more that needs to be done
