All this talk about a WEt Sounds SD6 killing batteries, it's bull****. I run an SD6 on my Can Am Maverick with a Stinger SPP1700 battery. Essentially a Group31 battery. I can play the stereo for 10 hours.
The SD6 will be the best choice. The XS-650 or XS-808 is a great speaker, and you won't mind looking at those instead of the Fountain grills. https://wetsounds.com/media/products.../images/01.jpg |

Trying to run it off a standard Interstate battery is where you would have issues with the amp killing the battery. They are great amps, just need to add a battery with them. |
Tommy are talking from experience, because it doesn't sound like it. I have two SD6 amps and a JL m1400 and they run fine for hours off of two group 24 advanced auto parts deep cycle batteries. The only advantage to expensive batteries is that they last 5 or 6 years instead of 3. The cheap ones have the same amp hours pound for pound.

I've decided on my final setup. Fusion ip700 head unit with the wired remote. JL Audio MX650 speakers (the M650's flange is smaller and will not cover the impression in the vinyl left from the Fountain metal grilles). I also looked in to going with the 7.7's or 8.8's but I have some obstructions that are not removable so can't cut the holes larger than whats there now. Two JL audio amps for the 8 main speakers and the sub. Adding an XP3000 house battery hooked up to an ACR and will charge off my center engine and also be hooked up to my ProMariner Quad battery charger. Everything ordered and just waiting for it to arrive.. stay tuned for the install results.

They're not made for reserve time. Anybody that's upgrading a stereo should always budget money for a battery.

You could almost have a bunch of high school kids throw that stuff in upside down and backwards and it will still be so much better than what you have been suffering with .do what you can with your underseat 10 go out there at night with a flashlight and shine around the bench and eliminate any leaks especially that go towards the listening area .will generally make a night and day difference in sound quality .and dont let the speaker phasing of those 9 drivers get away from you .it happens more than you think and will kill bass too .a tube of dielectric grease will make those cockpit speaker connects live 5 times longer too. But please save the sub sealing (if its leaky 90%are ) for after so maybe you can say yea it sounded good .then we sealed the seat . And then it was yea baby !

Not really sure what caused it - that's not a boat that I did or have experience with, but if it's corrosion, shame on JL for having marine speakers that won't stand the elements. If they're burnt, it could go on the user or the fault of the speakers. Either way everybody raves about JL Audio, but I'm sitting here thinking they're marketing program works. Hyped up just like Paul Harvey did with Blose.
