I found boat has a 10 pin plug. Missing pin 9

and the 496 has a 10 pin plug on bell housing missing pins 7 and 9 (pins not installed)that was capped in previous install

But also has a 14 pin on top that was previously used in boat it was previously in. With 4 connections that i Dont know if they do

So the question at hand is :
can I plug boat into either 10 pin or 14/ cap the other and go ? And what are the 4 connections on top do with 14 pin

The first 496 and 496HO have both conectors. A picture from your conectors can help me to help you.
Steering sensor, Pito sensor, paddelwheel sensor, Trim sensor, Tank sensor are some extra sensor´s on a 496

bingo. These are the unknown connections

I elected to just get the 14 pin adapter due to starter pin not being in 10 pin on rear of engine (pin 7)
just trying to figure out those 4 connections and it they are even needed
