Default Repower to 496mag ho harness?

I have a older warlock and I have a newer 496Mag HO to put in it. Had a carb motor previous. Physical install I’m not worried about but what electrical issues will I have when it comes to gauges/charging/starting. Is there a harness that pugs in to adapt or??

not even close to the same harness. Also all Mercruiser MPI engines went to a 10 pin to a 14 pin harness 2007. There is sensors and more a 496 has that carb engines do not have. Then you have the 8 coil pigtails and harness connections and then 8 injector pigtails and that harness adaption. Anyways a small jist of it. You will need a 496 harness in very good condition and very good clean connectors. All that will be needed to run the engine management system plus to have it operate correctly.

the connection for the knock sensors are not what they were on carb engines ( YES Merc CARB engines had a knock module and knock sensors for Thunderbolt V set up ). The 496 exhaust has temp sensors and the water cooling side has a water pressure reading side as well. All these have to be hooked up or the the pcm 555 will see it as a default and put the engine in guarding mode for another jist of info. There is a lot more here but I just mention a jist of it.

Ok I have a complete running motor from a friends boat when he upgraded. Complete with ecu/harness/coils/sensors/exhaust. Just needs to be mounted and tied into boat.
The electrical to tie my gauges and key into engine is what I’m after.
I just noticed looming at engine there are a couple connectors and not sure if there was something heaven forbid like a connector to plug into harness and labeled to hook up my simple electrical system.

Just buy the harness from the guy above and worst case you will need one of these in addition.

if you have a old 496 with 10pin it is all the same, if you have a 14 pin you can use the "10-pin to 14-pin Connector Adapter Harness 84-866337t01" conector. 14pin you can switch in the ECM the output from the 14pin, analog ore digital, use analog if you use the old gauges. If you have more than your instruments in your cockpit "stereo amp......" you need to make a jump wire from plus batterie to your old red cabel and one from ground to the black wire " Engine to Cockpit" with fuse in plus. The adapter have only 10 small pins and no big plus and big ground wire in it.

Found out tonight boat has 10pin connector (9 actual pins). So in the adapter to 14 pin what’s left out?

That’s good info. Any idea what from the 14 pin will not be used when converted to 10 pin.
