Hi guys, so I just swapped out my broken Fitech EFI for an edelbrock 1410 carb. This on my gen v 7.4l mercruiser. The problem I have is the previous owner removed everything to do with the original Quadrajet . Now I need a safe and reliable 12v source with key on to run my electric choke. According to Edelbrock the alternator is a No, the coil is a No... I can't figure where to get my key on 12v from? The starter solenoid? Could I direct run it from the battery with a manual toggle switch? Need some guidance so I can remove this dead boat from the dock before October. Thank you in advance

The purple wire is what feeds the choke. It might also be on the coil , or an electric fuel pump relay.

Purple wire is marginal at best for powering even just your ignition coil, let alone other things. It is small gauge wire and comes from a million miles away . Ie: ignition switch.
i’d install a relay to use the purple as just a trigger. Then you can wire the coil and choke with appropriate sized wire from a closer battery source ie: in engine comp’t.
here is a generic internet pic of how to wire a bosch 4 pin style relay . In this example he was powering lights. You’d be powering choke and/or ignition coil.
