I also have a 25 Daytona and am having problems figuring it out. It won't go over 78 mph and I've been through every prop from 28 to 34 Lab/no lab. In searching OSO it seems like your Daytona is very close to mine so can I pick your brain a bit? 25 daytona bowrider 620HP 540BBC 1.5 bravo. Stock 28P Bravo1 prop runs 78 mph @ 5200 rpm, Labbed 30 runs 78 mph @ 5300 rpm, Labbed 34 runs 76mph @ 4700 rpm. There must be a problem with the X dimension, with the drive all the way down the center of the prop is about even with the bottom of the sponsens, should the X dimention be measured with the drive trim raised to the max speed trim level?
Thanks!

Frank it should be measured at neutral trim. That is with the propshaft level with the running surface of the hull.Easy to do with a straight edge and another person.
My 27 runs best with the shaft level with the bottom of the sponsons.
Remember the old rule,15-20hp to gain 1 mph.
I rode in a 25 with a 496ho 425hp.It topped out at 70.Wouldn't budge over it.If you calculate it out,you are'nt far off.
If the propshaft is level with the bottom of the sponsons and your in your correct rev range you are done. It's then down to props and fiddly bits.
I believe these cats run fastest the higher you can get that drive up and still maintain driveability.Meaning still be able to get it out of the water.
Without my bolt on manufactured cav plate mine won't get out.Hope this helps.

That's absolutely hillarious!!!! I just came to the same conclusion and PMd ya before I saw you that you chimed in on this post Neil.

Turns out I was wrong about the X dimension, after measuring properly instead of "eyeballing it" I'm 4.5" low (below the sponsens). That's gotta be worth 12mph!

As I understand it a Blackhawk mounted in the same hole would be 7 inches higher than a Bravo 1 ??? A Blackhawk is supposed to be installed 3" above the bottom of the sponsens so it seemed like the Blackhawk is my solution. Now comes the problem....

Not many blackhawks around and the few I've found are 4 grand plus, now try and find props at 1 to 2 grand a set, add in the reliability issues and the Imco shorty looks a lot more attractive. I wish I had the stupid play money from a few years ago to get both and compare. Any smokin deals on a blackhawk you're aware of? By the way I check with my prop guy today and he has a set of 29 blackhawk props he's had laying around for 8+ years, he wants 1500, I see you've been searching for a set

I saw the ad for 7K on OSO but cannot justify spending 1/2 that for a Blackhawk. You know of any BH drivesout there under 3K?
If you're looking for a set of 29s call Richard at The Propeller Company in Lake Havasu City.
